Herbal Salt from Crete
Herb salt from Crete, blended from sea salt from the coasts of the Messara and Cretan oregano, thyme and rosemary. The herbs set the tone, so it tastes savoury and Mediterranean rather than simply salty.
Taste: Savoury and Mediterranean, with a clear herbal note.
Characteristics:
- Sea salt from the coasts of the Messara, harvested by hand from rock pools
- Oregano, thyme and rosemary from the mountains of Crete, hand-harvested and air-dried
- By volume, more herbs than salt
- All ingredients from Crete
- No additives and no anti-caking agents
- 150 g in a resealable pouch
- Ideal for salads, vegetables, meat, dressings and Mediterranean dishes
Oregano, thyme and rosemary grow in the hinterland of the north coast near Heraklion, farmed close to nature and harvested by hand. The sea salt is skimmed by hand from natural rock pools on the south coast and dried in the sun. We work directly with the producers on both sides of the island.
Use: Particularly good in combination with olive oil, because the herbs unfold in the fat and the salt is distributed evenly. Thanks to the high proportion of herbs, a smaller amount is usually enough.
Storage: Store dry, airtight and cool. Full aroma in the first months after opening.
Shipping within Germany: €4.49, free on orders of €50 or more.
Delivery time: 2 to 4 business days (Mon–Fri).
Shipped with DHL. You will receive delivery details and tracking information in your confirmation email.

What's behind your spice/herb from Crete-Manufacture?
Sea salt and herbs
Herb salt needs two ingredients, and both have to be right. The sea salt comes from natural rock pools on the south coast of Crete, skimmed by hand and sun-dried. Oregano, thyme and rosemary come from family farms around Heraklion, without synthetic fertiliser. We source both components directly, which makes a herb salt possible that is herb-dominant, not salt-dominated.
Hand-harvested and mixed
Commercial herb salts often consist of 80 % salt. With our herb salt, the ratio is reversed. Oregano, thyme and rosemary are harvested in the morning hours, air-dried and only then mixed with the sea salt. You taste oregano and thyme, not just salt.
In the kitchen
Herb salt combines salt and herbs in one step and creates something of its own. Especially good over salads, with vegetables, meat and dressings. The herbs unfold best in combination with olive oil. We mix according to a fixed ratio, not by feel. Anyone looking to buy Cretan herb salt will find the right product here.
Good to know
Cretan sea salt as the base, refined with oregano, thyme and rosemary from the uplands around Heraklion. Everything hand-sorted, gently air-dried, no anti-caking agents, no added iodine, no flavourings. A herb salt with a recipe that has grown over time, not an industrial product.
Wherever salt and herbs should work together. Over roast potatoes, grilled vegetables, fish, meat, in marinades, on bread and butter with tomato or in scrambled eggs. Best sprinkled over at the end so that the herbs keep their aroma.
Store in a dry, dark place and well sealed, ideally in a jar or tin. Protect from light and moisture. This keeps the salt and herbs fully aromatic for about one to two years.
